Poke The Bear is an animation company based on the Central Coast of NSW only an hour north of Sydney. The studio is owned by multiple award winning Director and Producer Guy Jamieson, who has been working in the animation scene in Sydney for over 20 years.

Who We Are

Guy Jamieson

Guy is a producer working in the Australian animation industry that has worked in near all facets of production over the last 20 years. Starting in ink & paint, moving through design, animation, teaching and commercial producing and production management.
Guy is also the founder of the Sydney Animation Production Group. Leading Sydney creatives on a journey into how to develop and produce their own animation concepts.

 

Norman Yeand

Norman is an award winning animation director who has provided commercials for some of the top international and domestic advertising agencies. His skills as writer, director, model-maker and stop-motion animator have seen him work on a variety of projects including television series, documentaries, short films, music videos and features. Along with his film work, Norman has also taught stop-motion workshops at AFTRS (Aust. Film, Television & Radio School) UTS (University of Technology, Sydney) and the Design Centre at Enmore.

 

Jason Morice

Freelance motion designer originally from NZ, I come from a background in skateboarding/surfing/snowboarding and the creative and artistic cultures they entail including filming and video making. Studied in graphic design majoring in visual communication before moving on to 3d animation and ultimately motion graphics specialising in after effects and cinema 4d as well as the rest of the adobe suite.

 

Story & Style

We at Poke The Bear are all about great stories and great characters. We’ve been involved in almost every style of animation possible, from 3D printed stop motion to 2D animated explainers to 3D animated branded content.

Passion

Obviously animation is a big passion of ours and we know what it means to be able to create a work life around this passion. Offering paid work to the local animation community puts a big smile on our faces 😀
